Dreamscape

This is a collection of five artworks where the feeling of 'yearning' and 'reaching' for something bigger is present in all of them. The collection also creates otherworldly scape that are inspired, but not grounded, in reality. Hence it's name, Dreamscape.

All of the artworks in this collection started off as a photo taken on the iPhone by me. Then I used various apps to compose and create each individual artwork. ArtStudio being the primary one. Followed by the Reflect app being the second most used one.

Making Of

The pier on which the astronaut is standing on is a photograph I took on iPhone. The water is of South Beach on Staten Island.

I wanted to create something more with the photograph, so after many trials and errors, I landed on a great sunset and a crescent moon.

I hope the astronaut's yearning, as he looks to the moon - his goal, dream, final destination - is evident on the artwork.

The tree is a photograph - captured on my iPhone - I took around my neighborhood. It was the dead of winter with the moon peaking out through the branches. All the components for the artwork came from the photograph, I just accentuated certain details: the moon, color of the sky, etc.

I thought having a wolf baying at the moon would add the final touch, pushing the piece to completion.

Sunseting

This piece started off as a photograph, taken on my iPhone. Taken during a sunset run, the original photograph showcased the sun setting behind a forest while a plane flew off across the horizon.

All these components inspired the final artwork. While composing the artwork, I accentuated these components. I made the sun bigger - bigger than any sun an iPhone's camera could ever photograph - and the sky more blue - with stars strewn around - than any phone could capture.

The elephant reaching for the plane was the final whimsical touch.

Reach

Making Of

Out of all the artwork in this collection, only this one does not feature a character reaching, yearning for something more. Instead it features two trees - photographed during the dead of winter on iPhone - reaching across distance for each other, but never touching.

When creating this artwork, I did minimal compositing. The only addition was the moon. To indicate the great distance across which the trees would have to cross to reach each other.

Wildfare

Making Of

The photograph for this artwork was taken in St. Augustine, Florida. Just a singular palm tree with clouds floating around it. I added the rest in.
