On Lovers

In this world, I was born

In stillness and on a silent shore.

Vast emptiness, swallowed me whole

Bathing me with black drip and rose thorns

I rose. Then I saw —

Two bodies entwined glowing fiery-red.

Swinging, singing in tune of melody-wed

Such force of love I never beheld.

Catalystic, catastrophic, never-foretold cataclysmic force

They bulldozed every obstacle laid before.

While I stood remote and far-offshore

Admiring — God! — at the lovers’ roar.

Tell me the reasons —

They have the songs of each other?

Why do they tick together?

Align the worlds for one another?

O Lord, woe is me, to be born as me

Cursed am I to be borne of loneliness

I shall die in the abyss of emptiness

Alone and forlorn, questions unanswered carved to my bone

Inspiration

To be frank, I no longer remember the specific idea that first came to me for this piece. If I had to guess, it was jealousy that prompted the idea. Jealously on why two people are perfect for each other.

Process

There are some rhyming scheme, but nothing formal. Mostly stream of consciousness.
