Tell Me

Tell me all the words I could say

Tell me all the words I could not utter

Tell me all the lies in me I slayed

Tell me all the dreams in me I razed

Tell me all my dreams are meaningless

Tell me all my efforts are wasted

Tell me all the lights in me I oppressed

Tell me all the desires in me I suppressed

Tell me I could not carry on

Tell me I could only be a burden

Tell me I could not face a coming dawn

Tell me I am just another pawn

Tell me I am inadequate

Tell me I am an imposter prowling a lion's den

Tell me all my dreams were never fated

Tell me all my best intentions could only irate

Tell me all the things I could not bear to hear

Tell me all the things my conscience whisper

Tell me and make me believe in all my fears

Tell me and make me hope —

One Day All Of Them Disappears

Inspiration

Idea for this came from the first two lines. Then I kept up on elaborating.

Process

Playing with the refrain, “Tell me…” Each stanza has it’s own rhyming scheme.
