Scribbles and Dribbles

Inspiration

I was inspired by Shantell Martin's work. Her art is very minimalistic with black and white lines. To me, it seemed very obvious that code could create similar lines such as hers. So I used her work as an inspiration to create something reminiscent of her art.

Naming

Martin's artwork reminds me very much of doodles. As someone who is very fond of scribbling and doodling in the margins of my notebooks, I thought to pay homage to my childhood - and adult - propensity to doodling. So it was a no-brainer to name the piece, Scribbles and Dribbles.

Process

At thirty-four lines long, the piece is relatively simple. Set up in a black background, there are around thirty to thirty-five 'particles' that are spaced out equally in the page. Then each particle is multiplied by a noise value and mapped in the page using the ellipse shape.

Note

The piece is set to generate every twenty seconds. As with all my generative artwork, with each refresh a new and unique artwork is generated. Once the page refreshes, that same artwork will never be created again. Once it's gone, it's gone forever.

You can view the complete project here.
